Austin Web Design Firm Adds Cyber-Elegance to Ballet Austin's Online Home
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) July 13, 2007 -- How do you bottle the grace and dignity of Austin's premiere dance company, Ballet Austin, for Internet consumption? You hire Austin's premiere web design and development firm, Site Goals. At the cusp of the 2006 Season, BalletAustin.Org opted for a much needed face-lift, revamping and re-stylizing the five-year old site. The goal was simple: a classy, yet modern, style that evoked the Season's expectations.
Artistic Director Stephen Mills entitled the 2006 Season "Passionistas", which included a steamy version of Carmina Burana and an idyllic Romeo & Juliet. In homage to the musk and vigor of the Season, Site Goals designed a site bathed in swaths of chocolate and cocoa. A lonely dancer stands posed alongside show information, pensive and austere. The look was so provocative it has been adapted for the 2007/2008 Season.
"I'm excited about the new season and how the ideas and vision that I have will translate into our online and printed materials. It will be a truly new direction for Ballet Austin," says Mills.
But beyond the aesthetics, there is a usability factor, which includes comprehensive navigation buttons and hierarchal paging, so many sites lack in these modern, splashy, make-it-snappy web design times. Site Goals mission is to enable sites to be easy to understand, navigate and purchase from.
"It's not uncommon for the Site Goals team to be called in to refurbish a site that looks beautiful, but simply is not a tool for selling a product or service effectively," says Site Goals Principal and Design Lead Simon Erich. "We are a 'development shop', meaning that we consider the end goal of the site along with the aesthetic design elements. The components of a site should work in union, not against each other."
The Site Goals client list is long and exclusive. It includes Crutchfield Electronics, for whom Site Goals overhauled an extensive consumer website, ranked the top online consumer electronic retailer by Consumer Reports for the last two years. There is Luminex Corporation, a publicly-traded biotech hardware manufacturer. Site Goals built the entire Luminex website after re-defining the taxonomy and structure. And they are currently designing the new online home for The Good Sam Club, an online community for RVers, complete with a MySpace community feel and a MapQuest-like trip planning and routing toolset.
"Site Goals excels at these types of sites, those with built-in web applications," adds Erich. "We know the technologies, we understand the complicated path of web development and we have the ability to create whatever you can dream up."
For Ballet Austin this meant designing a site that made people want to go back to the theater, giving them a chance to purchase their tickets online and contribute financially.
"We are particularly proud of our work in the non-profit arena, and look forward to working with more community-based organizations as our business grows," says Erich.
